My Fitness Journey:
Unlike many fitness stories, mine doesn’t start with a dramatic health scare or a Rocky-style montage. It begins with something many can relate to: simply wanting to feel comfortable in my own skin.
At 6’7″, I was the definition of ‘lanky’ – all height, no might. Poor posture, minimal muscle, and a confidence level that matched my bench press: pretty low. The mirror wasn’t my friend, and ‘skinny-fat’ was my unwanted middle name.
My brother, a PT at the time, threw me a lifeline. He introduced me to the basics of training, and unknowingly, to my future passion. What started as a quest for better biceps turned into a love affair with fitness.
This newfound passion was so strong that I made a decision that would make any parent’s heart skip a beat: I left university to pursue a career in fitness. (Spoiler: My parents eventually came around!)
Eight years later, I’ve not only transformed my own physique but I’ve had the privilege of guiding others through their own metamorphoses. It might sound cliché, but watching clients evolve – both physically and mentally – is genuinely life-changing. Not just for them, but for me too.
My journey proves that you don’t need a dramatic backstory to make a dramatic change. Sometimes, all it takes is a decision to be better, one rep at a time.
